the error that you have on your Dell D400 seems to come from a failure in detecting the proper driver for the DVD-Rom: which DVD module are you using with your D400 and internal one (media bay) or an external USB DVD-Rom?
Did you use the boot options \"noapic\", \"noacpi\" or \"nolapic\" at the boot prompt?
Thanks for the informations.

I use an external USB DVD-Rom
I tried boot without options and boot with
options noapic nolapic --> same problem ...

The DVD-rom is an internal unit, but I think that is is linked through USB as I can unmount it.
I got the same error and the Linux system that is installed seams to be have no filesystem (dir gives no results)
Is there a way to put it on a USB stick and load from a Windows XP prompt without admin rights?
The computer I have is a company system with very restricted possibilities, even the boot system is different from the standard. I would not be surprised that the file system is not readable for the Linux core and that it fails on this.

I've tried the same on a Dell Latitude D610.

I tried the newer pclinux 0.92 and guess what: it works.
so to solve the dell latitude problem: remake the CAELINUX with the newer pclinux.

i have experienced the same kind of problem with other very recent hardware (nvidia nforce 4 for AMD). When I try PcLinuxOs .92 it works without any problem, but with PcLinuxOs .91 (=CAELinux) I need to enter the following boot options:
livecd noacpi noapic nolapic
and it works well.
After some testing of PcLinuxOs .92, I found that in fact these boot options are set as default and that's one of the reasons why it works much better.
So try these boot options first... and let's hope it will work fine!!
The next release of CAELinux will be based on PcLinuxOs .92 or higher...
Thank yoou for your feedback & Happy new year !!
