mesh generation was created by rui simoes
Hi All,

i've been trying to mesh the attached file, but it takes to much time to mesh it.

since the design is realy simple, can sameone explain why it takes so long?

Too low value for 'smallest element' perhaps - if using 1D discretization with average length, you have to decide how dense a mesh you want. A geometry with the length of 10 units and an average length of 1 will give you about 10 elements lengthwise, but if you set average length to 0.00001, you will probably run out of RAM and patience :)

Just an example.

ok.

when i mesh same thing i usualy choose
"assing a set of hipotesis" and then "automatic hexahedra".

salome then presents me with a cursor from 0 to 1.
usualy i dont touch it, and i assume i get the most course mesh.

what would be the best set of hipotesis to choose when dealing with metal sheets??

and it meshing went great.

Hoi rui

You could try shells for sheet metal like constructions. And maybe even for structures like your other posting assem3.

This is the second time now I have a double post. Is it my problem? Probably is, but it is a bit annoying and editing the last one destroys the first (this one) as well - kees

Post edited by: Kees Wouters, at: 2010/05/28 22:56

Interest: structural mechanics, solar energy (picture at 'my location' shows too little pv panels)
