CAELinux 2009 LiveDVD problem was created by massimiliano
Hi,
I've created a CAELinux 2009 LiveDVD.
I used it on my HP Workstation XW4600 (Intel Core 2 Quad; 6 GB ram; Windows XP 64 bit Professional Edition) and it works .
I used the same DVD on my Laptop (HP Pavilion dv6-2051el; Intel core i7-720QM; 4 GB ram; Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium) but it doesn't work.
The error message during the boot is: "Kernel panic - not syncing: aiee, killing interrupt handler!"
What could be the problem? What can I do? I wouldn't install Ubuntu on my hard-disk.
Thanks a lot
Massimiliano

It could be any number of things - most likely it panics when finding some exotic hardware.

google: "Kernel panic - not syncing: aiee, killing interrupt handler" has 17.200 entries on the subject :)

Giving a few posts a glance, it seems pretty random what sort of hardware this happens on, and there are posts from 2004 up till 20th of april 2010. Two posts claim to have fixed it:

So 've teken a nerarer look at bios configuration and found that in my AmiBios
Configuration Screen under the ide-settings the S.M.A.R.T option was desabled.

Now I've enabled it and it looks to me that was it,
My system rans now very smoothly.

In case someone runs into this problem, diable the acpi and apci in your motherboard's bios.

Alternatively, install another (later) version of ubuntu or similar and install the CAD applications yourself, it's not that hard and you can ask questions here :)
