CAELinux on Virtual Machine with no VIRTUALIZATION was created by Gabriel Castro Coelho
First of all, I would like to thank the development team for the awesome work done!
CAELinux is a great solution for engineering students, as well as graduated professionals.
Also, I don't know if I am posting this at the wrong place, but if so, please move it to the right place.
Here is my problem:
I am starting to use CAELinux and would like to use the 2011 edition (64 bits) on my desktop and laptop.
Since I am a Windows user, I would not like to set a new partition on my HD or use it directly from the DVD (I would have to always be setting the BIOS...seems no so practicle)
On my laptop (Core i3 CPU), I had no problem on installing CAELinux 2011 on a Virtual Machine
The probem is with my desktop: My CPU (Core2Duo E7400) does not support the VIRTUALIZATION mode.
So here is my question:
Is there a way that I can install CAELinux on a Virtual Machine wihtout having Virtualization hardware technology?
Did anybody have this problem and still manage to install it on a virtual machine? If so, could you explain how to solve it?
My desktop is running a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits OS.
PS: I have tried the Windows Virtual PC and the "supposed" update (KB977206) that promises to get rid of the Virtualization hardware pre-requirement, but either it does not work or I did something wrog. If it does work, can anybody tell me how should I proceed to make it work?
Thanks a lot to whoever decides to help me
If you guys need anymore infos to try to help me, please do not hesitate on ask.

I had to set a switch in my Bios. Now everything works.

You have to press a button i.e. F8 during start up. Then you can change the settings in your bios.
Make sure you absolutely know what you are doing. You can render your laptop useless.
There is also info on the vmware website: kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/sea...C&externalId=1003944
