instalaltion issue was created by Bill
Hi,
Firstly, thanks for creating such a great distro! :)
I've decided to do a full install of CAELinux but am having some issues.
System specs:
Gigabyte GA 7N400 Pro 2 Motherboard, onboard SATA and GigaRAID, Athlon XP 3000+ CPU, 1 HDD as SATA, two drives on Priamry IDE - 80 Gig master and 120 Gig Slave, DVD Burner and CD player on Secondary IDE.

With the configuration as is I can't get draklive-install to recognise the 80 Gig Master drive which is where I want to install CAELinux. I tonly shows up with a custom disk partitioning as mapper/pdc_ ... which is, apparently, something to do with RAID.

If I disconnect my other drives and try with only the 80 Gig then setup sees it but then says it is busy or in use. I can't mount it, partition it or do anything with it.

The odd thing is that this device isn't on any RAID controller although it might have been at one stage in the past. could the problem be that the drive is still "marked" as part of a RAID array and that teh OS there fore tries to set it up as RAID?

How can I get past this issue? I'd prefer not to disconnect the drives and reconfigure them again.

Cheers!
Bill

I think I have it: dmraid -a n

It's installing now but I *might* have to disable dmraid on boot.
