Fontconfig warning was created by Luigi
Hello to all forum,

I imported a large element geometry in Salomè and it went ok.

When I switch to mesh module and click on "wiew", It crashes and on the shell it get the following error:

Searching /Kernel/Session in Naming Service ++++++Fontconfig warning: line 32: unknown element "cachedir"
Fontconfig warning: line 33: unknown element "cachedir"
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/00-cache.conf", line 6: unknown element "cachedir"
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/00-cache.conf", line 7: unknown element "cachedir"
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/80-delicious.conf", line 18: invalid match target "scan"

I have suspicion this is a Linux problem.
Does anybody have any idea?

P.s I am using PCOsLinux distro.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

the Fontconfig warning has nothing to do with the crash. These symptoms are usually due to a faulty 3D driver. It is typically observed with the default 3D driver for ATI cards that is included in PCLinuxOS / CAELinux. If you have an ATI card, you should install the proprietary driver: see caelinux.com/CMS/index.php?option=com_jo...&catid=7#msg2005
for more informations.

Hi Joel,

thanks for your explanation.

I have NVidia GeFroce FX 5500, 256 Video RAM; drivers are included in PcOSLinux distro. Can I find better driver on Nvidia Site?

P.S. Gmesh also crashes sometimes in inexpected way...

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ciao, Luigi

Hello,

(A) did you install the NVIDIA driver from the VIT or Synaptics utilities ?
(B) or are you just using the default driver that loads with PCLinuxOS ?

In case (A), you should try to get the latest driver from nvidia site and install it manually (following the instructions).

In case (B), you should first try to install the appropriate Nvidia driver from the "vit" utility.

Regards,

Joël
