Moment Load in Salome Meca 2009 was created by Alex
Hi Forum
I would like to know if it is possible to specify a moment load in Salome Meca, as well as a Force ( vectorial ) load, since the Aster wizzard in salome Meca only shows up pressure ( normal to surface ) loads... as well as Linear Diplacement boundary conditions ( are there rotational Boundary conditions ? )

Hello,
The salome-meca wizard are simple wizard for the large possibilities of code-aster. If you would like to use these loads you should look at the command AFFE_CHAR_MECA www.code-aster.org/V2/doc/v9/man_u/u4/u4.44.01.pdf
A moment is not directly available, but can be constructed with additional beam elements or nodal forces.

Hi Johnny
Thanks for your reply...
You mean to say that the moment load is not directly accessible from within Salome Meca wizzard or from within the *.comm edition in ASTK ?
Can rotating BCs be imposed from within the.comm file...?

No, not for anything besides single nodes (correct me if Im wrong), but you can connect that single node to a node-group and thereby impose torque/moment on a surface. It is not as easy as I describe it here, but I have made other posts on this forum regarding imposing torque.
I wish it was a bit easier.
Search this forum and CA forum for TORQUE and MOMENT, and you should find those and other posts.

Well well well, seems the default kernel on ubuntu 64bit and the 'alternate' ubuntu 64bit install disk does not have the same kernel settings. After finding and upgrading to a 2.6.31 kernel (from a PPA) both MECA and gmsh loads fine
Can someone change the title to [solved] ? I might be blind but I can't figure it out.
