code_saturne postprocessing was created by stephanbarbe
Hello,
I worked quite intensively with code_saturne the past 4 months and I used salome for the postprocessing operations. But when the cases become bigger (> 500 000 cells) the postprocessing starts to be really slow and it takes quite a lot of time to achieve visualization. I am now trying to work with paraview 3.2.1, it seems to be faster in handling big meshes.
I export the files in the ensight gold format (.case) and I can visualize all scalar fields but it is not possible to visualize vector fields like flow field or steamlines.
Has anybody already be able to visualize flow fields from code_saturne with paraview?
Thanks in advance
Stephan

Hello,
It is indeed true that Salome becomes slow for big meshes...
ParaView can deal with bigger mesh than Salome, but it sometimes needs a vertex representation and Code_Saturne has a cell centred representation.
So you need to use the Cell data to point data filter before being able to plot velocity vectors (for example).

David - thanks
I also tried it - works great - Paraview is faster and produces high quality plots.
Stephan - thanks for posing the question !
