I do not feel confortable with med.
It is hard to see the errors
Is there another ascii option for aster?
I know that salome only have med and universal.
I think that is easy the traslation between ascii files.

Hello,
Aster supports MED, UNV, GMSH, GIBI and its native MAIL format in input. From my experience, for small models, UNV is the best choice but MED is better for large 3D models (huge files in ascii). In these formats only MED is binary, all the others are ASCII. If you want to convert Salome meshes to other formats, the best starting point is to export the mesh & groups in UNV and then write a small python code based on the UNV2X python module.
See:

for more informations about UNV2X

I have an anys/sesam/aqwa/precal/nastran to unv translator
at the moment it only translates GRID, CQAUD4 and CTRIA3
I am in the dark with the .unv format , I tried to add CQUAD8 and CTRIA6 but the node order appears to be different in .unv format
anyone have any documentation for unv?
Anyone know if Salome can read in material and element properties via a .unv format?
thanks for help

Hi,
I found a couple of issues in the unv2abq translator. Probably I didn't test it long enough...
I am updating the maps between the unv format and the abaqus, but I'm rather busy, so it is difficult to find time to check and fix it.
When do you plan to have the new version ready?
Massimo

Hi All,
I need to convert the .unv file (universal file) which has the engine mount excitation datas to be used in either Nastran or Abaqus exhaust models.
However the datas in .unv files contains too many values for eg real and imaginary values and those values has to be used in either Nastran or Abaqus format so it requires conversion from .unv to .inp or .dat.
Can anyone please help me how to convert the same. Currently I have .unv converted to excel format so if excel to .inp or .dat is easy then anyone please help me to do the same.
thanks and regards,
kannangoku
