				Hi!
I downloaded CAELinux and tested it as a Live-DVD.
For I already have a Linux-OS (Ubuntu 9.04) on my computer I'm asking myself and you how I could download and install the interesting software packages on my Ubuntu-partition without installing the whole CAELinux on my computer.
Maybe you could help

				Hi,
you can try to copy the whole content of /opt from CAELinux to your own distrib (put it in /opt also) ---
it is not 100% sure that all software will work because of possible incompatibilities with system libraries. But most of the codes installed in /opt were compiled from source or installed from stand-alone binary distributions so they do not rely much on system.
As these codes are all compiled in 32bit, if your system is 64bit, you will need to install 32bit compatibility libraries, something like :
"apt-get install ia32-libs" should make it.

Thank you very much. I'm still quite new to Linux and want to use it only for simulation, although it has many other advantages.
For I don't know much about Linux-System architecture I had to post this question. But with your explanation, a lot makes sense now.
Thanks again.
