boundary-compression only was created by Andrea
Hi everybody,
I'm a civil engineer and I use sometimes Code Aster.
In my work the boundary are often compression only.
My question is this:
Is possible perform, with EFICAS, a non linear analysis where the boundary conditions are compression only?
In the Code Aster forum I don't find nothing about that.

Hello,
probably you have to use contact to define the compression only condition (operator DEFI_CONTACT). Perhaps you can also use LIAISON_UNIL, if the outer faces have an linear topology.

All this is of course possible to set up with eficas.

Best regards,
Richard

Hi RichardS,
Thanks for the answer. I think I'll use the first approach.
But now I have another question for you ;)
Do You know where I can find some material for beginners about EFICAS? I mean a simple video or a pdf where there are the procedures step by step, also for simple model (for example a static analysis).

I think the material in www.code-aster.org is not simple for a beginner who usually use the wizard procedure.

Best regards,
Andrea

Hi,
of course there is a lot of material out there:
- Code-Aster training material: www.code-aster.org/V2/spip.php?article282
- Code-Aster test cases (search for "FORMA" ): www.code-aster.org/V2/doc/default/en/index.php?man=cas-test

Also a very good beginners book: www.lulu.com/shop/product-21338626.html
(which was also available for free download at framabook.org/14-beginning-with-code_aster but the link seems to be broken)

If you are a student you could also try SimScale which is for free for academic users and features CalculiX and Code-Aster.

Best regards,
Richard
