SIGSEGV error using CAELinux2008 was created by alex mossman
Hi, I've just burned CAELinux2008 to DVD, and am running booted from the DVD. I started the FEA tutorial (piston), and when I try to open the geometry module in Salome-Meca, I get a "fatal error" message:
SIGSEGV "segmentation violation" Address 240090.
I'm running a Dell Optiplex 755, with 1.95 Gb or RAM & Pentium dual CPU E2180 2 GHz. It usually runs Windows XP.
I'd appreciate any help in resolving this.

Code_Aster release : STA11.4 on OpenSUSE 12.3 64 bits - EDF/Intel version

quick reply: search for 'graphics drivers' 'geom module' etc. in this forum and code_aster forum - it is most likely lack of proper drivers.

If it happens when the mouse cursor enters the graphical window, then it's a bug in SaloméMECA that occurs from time to time - highly annoying, but theres nothing you can do about it.
Have you tried upgrading to CAELinux2010?

it's impossible because, at the moment, i've only 32 bit processors!
And now for me it's the worst moment for thinking about changing laptop and it's impossible to emulate a 64bit guest os on 32bit processor host ... however it appens everytime i try to assign geometry filters. No problems with other filters.
so, except the bug that you say there's another solution for the problem?

Post edited by: Alessandro Pani, at: 2011/03/06 12:45

You can download a new Salome-Meca 2010 - 32 bit version from the downloads section of www.code-aster.org . This will probably be a better choice than the old Salome-Meca from the 2008 distro.
