Creating fillets was created by Serge Tichko
Hi CAE Linux users

I have very recently installed CAE Linux 2008 and I am using the Salome Suite for performing my FEM studies. I have been playing with the many possibilities of this suite so far.

Today I started to build a geometry with the GEOMETRY module as a test case. The model is very simple and consists about a box with a cylinder on one of its faces. I wanted to make a fillet between the box and the cylinder (in order to reduce the mechanical stresses in that transition area). I didn't find a way to do that. If I select the circle of the cylinder, which interfaces with the box, the software creates the fillet on the inside of the cylinder instead of making a smooth transition fillet between the box and the mating cylinder.

Can anyone tell which GEOMETRY tools I have to use to make this transition fillet?

Many thanks in advance,

Serge

Hello,

What you need to do is "Fuse" the two together then fillet the resulting fused solid. (See: Operations -> Boolean -Fuse)

Then you will be able to fillet it. See the attached image.

JMB
