It’s possible in Code-Aster and Salome perform similar analysis.
What kind of element must be used to model the seal.

I might be missing the question here, but all we really do to simulate welds are add chamfers to the model to simulate the welds being present.

Without having read too much about it, I think you can use CA to simulate the thermal gradient, and possibly what it does to the material, but others more experienced might want to tune in here.
