But what to do if You get a 3D model and You don't have SW license? Modelling sheet metal constructions in SolidWorks is quite easy, doing the same in Salome's geom is a challenge. Any ideas?

Kind regards,

I'm currently trying to generate Mid surfaces in Salome too.
I had the following idea, assuming that the geometric parts involved
are a thin plate:

  1. explode top and bottom surfaces
  2. reorient bottom (repair section) and create normal vector (measurement section)
  3. Create Vertex at bottom and measure distance this point and the top surface
  4. move bottom surface along the normal with the halfed distance
