Salome-Meca 2008 Ubuntu 8.04 was created by Rishi Pillai
Hello,
I have installed Salome Meca 2008(Code_Aster Version 9.4) with Ubuntu 8.04 as OS.I can set up the wizards in Code_Aster and solve certain cases with no trouble.
However when I try to run the 'Thermomechanical ' example from the CAE Wiki page, it does not work.I get no error window but just that there has been an error.I tried to export this case to ASTK or solve it completely independently in ASTK but with no success. The errors there are,
1. Time limited to s.Continue with job? - I click on Yes/Ok
2. Memory limited to MB.Continue with job? - I click on Yes/Ok
Both these parameters are set but I keep getting these errors. Is it necessary to install Code_Aster separately if cases other than the provided wizards needs to be run, i.e. Linear elastic, Linear thermal and so on.Is Salome-Meca incapable of computations with modelling non-linear material behaviour?
Please assist as possible.
Best Regards,
Rishi Pillai

Indeed it sounds weird that the mechanical calculations work, but the thermo-mechanicals doesn't.
What you can do though, is to check the 'message windows' under 'help' in the upper right corner of ASTK. That should indicate errors. If this yields nothing, you can try to delete all files in the ~/flasheur folder and run the calculation again.
Deleting all the files just makes it easier to find the relevant files.
After the calculation fails, the output files can be found in the ~/flasheur folder; check for errors and post them here if they don't make sense to you.

Thanks a ton Claus!
Before trying to make sense of the files and guessing what might be wrong I have attached the files from the flasheur folder. This is from a run of the *.comm in Salome-Meca (not in ASTK).
I added a new case, provided the *.comm and *.med file and run the case.
Banking on your expertise.
Best Regards,
Rishi

Okay, your problem is two-fold: The calculation does not run because the way thermal problems in Aster are calculated, has changed. Using the keyword TEMP_CALCULEE is not valid anymore. That explains why the calculation fails when launched from SaloméMECA. Next time you run into problems running calculations of any kind, the first place you should check, is the .mess file. You can select and view it from within SaloméMECA even.
The problem you're having with "Time limited to..." etc. is a problem of ASTK alone; you probably haven't set up 'rsh' or 'ssh' properly. I wont try to solve that here, you should search on www.code-aster.org/forum2/ for help - there are numerous threads with the very same problem and how to solve it :)
ps. I think the user Torben on this forum has uploaded a few thermal calculations to this forum, search for that to get you started off

Post edited by: Claus, at: 2010/03/30 19:33
