I have a machine with 4 Gig Ram with CAELinux 2011 installed on a USB drive - so no swap.
I have installed the latest 32 bit version of Salome Meca on an older machine and it meshes fine on Salome 5.1.4. I am having trouble with Aster computing the results there. There is no green checkmark beside linear static as the tutorial says there should be, and there is no Post-Pro tree generated.
Not sure if the meshing problem is the newer version, that would seem strange, or the lack of swap, that would seem strange also since I have a fair bit of RAM, or if there is another problem.
I am also trying to figure out why the Post Processing tree is not written. I compared the .comm file that the wizard generated with the comm file provided by the tutorial and can not see any obvious problems.
I am using the tutorial at www.caelinux.com/CMS/index.php?option=co...1&catid=68&Itemid=41, except that I am using the information from the CAELinux 2011 distro. It seems straightforward now that I have spent 3 days trying to get it to work. I am making progress but would like to see it work.

Code_Aster release : STA11.4 on OpenSUSE 12.3 64 bits - EDF/Intel version

A 32bit application can only address up to 2GB of RAM, so theres your first answer.
To answer the second question, you will have to provide the .mess file
/C

Greetings,
I too have the issue despite a virtual RAM (Windows) of 10GB and swap of over 26GB in Ubuntu. I'm dealing with over 18M elements. Any suggestions? Should I increase Virtual RAM or swap further? I cant increase mesh size as I'm dealing with a flexible wing with a fabric which is 0.5mm thick.
Seeking your advice on how to resolve the issue.
Best Regards,
Pranav
