Making groups/tags on mesh was created by Fa-Gung Fan
Hi,
I imported a mesh into Salome. The mesh has no group/tag of surface and I don't have the original geometry. Is it possible now to make groups of the surface nodes/elements for assigning boundary conditions? Thank you very much.

Yes this is entirely possible in the mesh module. The trick will be to select all the right nodes/elements.
Right click the mesh and select 'create group'
/C

Hi claws,
Thank you for the reply. As a trial, I imported the "Pipe1.unv" file in /opt/caelinux/docs/tutorials/pipe of CAELinux 2013 back to Salome's Mesh module. I first deleted the 4 Groups of Faces (Walls, F1, F2, F3). They are element groups of the pipe wall and the 3 openings. (See the attached screenshot of element numbers on F2.) I would like to re-create these groups without using the geometry information. Below, the 2nd attached screenshot shows that I right-clicked the element on F2 face, but don't see how it let me group the element together. In the 3rd screenshot, I selected Mesh in the upper bar and then Create Group. A pop-up window showed which has option of Elements Type of Node, 0D Element, Ball, Edge, Face, Volume. But, it ls not clear how I can use it to put the face elements into a group. Can you please help?

After posting the last message, I figured out how to do it. I am OK now. Thank you.
