Well I am using "Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller "
It seems to be similar problem like the last poster.
What do you recommend I do to be able use it?

Stop using compiz
There are some issues with the Intel driver in general, try googling a bit, there might be a solution for your particular Intel card

Well i meant how to stop compiz - but I managed it.
I did what you said, and it helped. not only for salome meca but also GMSH runs smoother.
But still there is one problem. after starting Salome I try to create a cube/sphere/...
I need to input paramaters for it. the paramaters that are empty at first (diagonal points 1+2 for a cube) dont let me fill them.
I press on the corresponding window/arrow to the right of it, and it doesnt respond.
